Imitation of Film: Here's Smoking at you, Kid.

In the article "Imitation of Film: Here's  Smoking at you, Kid" Nicholas Balakar states that children may consider smoking earlier when they see smoking in the movies as a normal life, so  they decide to imitate them as a part of their lives without knowing that can affect them. He also refer a survey by Dr. James D. Sergent published in issue of  Pediatrics revealed in the investigation most the children  are vulnerable to see movies with a grade of R-rated among the lowest grades of childhood.  Moreover, he has declared there are a percentage of children who don't follow to imitate them for the highest scenes that demonstrate bad influences.

I agree with Dr. James D. Sergent when he said children may get exposure to smoke even if they are only kids without knowing what they are doing because at this period of time children are influenced by people they see smoking in movies and are more likely to smoke themselves as any kind of fashion, where the kids are amazed by their idols because most of them probably appear in some programs caring people who may need, so they should be the most wonderful people to follow, but kids don't distinguish at the moment what could be wrong or right. As a result parents lives to show the misunderstanding that movies can influence in children.

Otherwise, parents might be a bad influence sometimes because some parents often smoke in front of their children or adolescents  beginning daily smoking, where children are unaware of the difficulties that may cause in life, even society may misunderstand creating controversy against parents saying they are not qualified to educate on this topic. On the other side, parents imply some factors to avoid smoking having good family management skills in setting rues and monitoring behavior and having a strong emotional relationship with their children matter until the end of adolescence

Some kind of movies could be the same as the real life and many adolescences may have a resemblance. If we compare we the real life movie could have similarity, but many may know what can happen if you consume a cigarette destroying the health and many parts of the body. For instance, in my case i used to smoke in my teenager years, but my parents didn't know what i did almost every day. Although my friends were the ones that insisted me to do it at first was like a game i was complicating my health and when i went to my karate tournament i lost very easy. As a result i realized my situation was deplorable as athlete it took my long time leave it.

Furthermore, there are many reason why the children may smoke and imitation could be the exactly reason that children  decide to experiment in their lives, but  parents should be able to lead them not to follow because they still ignoring all the inconveniences might appear in the future with some diseases and earlier death.

  2. Hello, I am a student in Dr.J's class and I was
asked to give you feedback on your revision of the C.A.T. First of all I think your thesis is
in the second paragraph, it should be in the first paragraph.

Your reasons connect to the topic well and are easy to understand. one reason I liked it because you are giving examles of why adolescents are smoking and watching "R" rated movies. Aslo, your evidence was detailed and your concrete , as for example whe you write about you smoking cigarettes as a young person and your mother did not know, as well you noticed that the cigarettes were bad for your health.Lstly, I would like you to know the whole was a bit hard to read because you wrote
your thesis statement in the second paragraph and i guess everything after that was good.

  3. While I understood the general gist of your arguments, every now and then sentences such as "Some kind of movies could be the same as the real life and many adolescences may have a resemblance" left me confused, mostly because the ideas are general. You really need to strive to be specific, as when you explained your problems as an athlete when you began smoking.
